Latin Women’s Initiative is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Latin women and children by providing financial and volunteer support through local non-profit organizations.
What We Do
Since 1995, Latin Women’s Initiative (LWI) has worked to bring its mission to life by providing financial and volunteer support to our beneficiaries, who are selected annually from over 30 nonprofit applicants. Our support to them is made possible through our remarkable membership base and two flagship events.
Currently, we have over 300 members, who, beyond supporting our flagship events, also support our beneficiaries’ missions by volunteering at beneficiary events throughout the year. Our membership network continues to grow as LWI continues to expand its community footprint.
Our two LWI flagship events are our fall Membership Drive & Luncheon and spring Fashion Show & Luncheon. Our fall event, hosted annually at the Junior League of Houston, allows the LWI Board of Directors to present our financial contributions to our chosen beneficiaries in front of our new and renewing members. Our spring event, held in May, has become one of the city’s premier fashion shows. Over the last few years, fashion show attendees and sponsors have helped LWI bestow record-breaking financial support to beneficiaries; and, thus, increase the number of community members their respective programs and services serve.
